Required Documents

To ensure your wedding in the Seychelles is legally recognized, please provide certified copies of the following documents:

  • Birth Certificates of both parties – officially validated and fully apostilled.
  • Previous Marriage Certificate and Decree Absolute – if either party has been divorced (officially validated and apostilled).
  • Marriage Certificate and Death Certificate – if either party is widowed (officially validated and apostilled).
  • Deed Poll – if either party has legally changed their name (officially validated and apostilled).
  • First page of each passport, showing personal details.

Important Notes

  • All certified copies must be submitted in advance.
  • If any document is not available in English or French (for example, in Italian), you must also provide an officially validated translation along with the original document.
  • Please bring the original validated documents with you to the Seychelles. Our local partner will collect them and obtain the required approvals from the Seychelles Civil Status Office.

⚠️ Deadline: Documents must be received at least 15 days before the wedding date.
If received later, a Marriage License Fee of SCR 500 (approx. €35) will apply.

Once your documents are received—either by post or in person—our local partner will handle submission to the Civil Status Office and secure all necessary approvals.

Understanding the Apostille

An Apostille certifies the authenticity of a public document, allowing it to be legally recognized in another country.
Issued under the Hague Apostille Convention, it replaces more complicated legalization procedures.
The Apostille is affixed by the competent authority in the issuing country.

Documents We Provide for You

Wedding Certificate

The official record of your marriage.
You will receive one original certificate in English, and additional copies if required for nationality or registration purposes.
Where needed, we will also supply an official translation.

Apostille

A Seychelles judiciary authentication of the Wedding Certificate.
This is mandatory for all nationalities (except British nationals).
The number of Apostilles depends on:

  • The number of Wedding Certificates requested.
  • The number of countries where the marriage will be registered.

Please inform our sales team of your nationality, country of residence, and intended countries of registration so we can prepare the correct documentation.

Certificate of Authentication (if applicable)

Issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of each country, this certificate validates both the Wedding Certificate and Apostille.
It is generally not required, except for couples registering their marriage in the UAE.
